The two volumes comprising Children’s Singing Games were first published in 1894. They were collected by Cecil John Sharp (1859-1924) and Alice Bertha Gomme  (1853-1938), both of whom werehighly regarded for their work in recording and preserving folk music and lore during the last years of the
